EmbraceXR is a multiplayer mixed-reality installation where players help save a fading world through connection.
Wearing untethered AR headsets ,participants move freely through a shared space, embracing virtual humans, fantastical creatures, and one another. Each hug restores colour and life to the environment transforming the experience into a celebration of presence, consent, and joyful connection.
As a London-based global collective capitArtX, we have spent the past year building a critical digital art community both in the UK and internationally. While our base remains in London, our community is global, and we are now preparing to launch our Immersive Media Port project at a historic UK port facing Europe: Harwich. This liminal space will serve as a new anchor for our community in these turbulent times.
Before the official launch of the Media Port, we are excited to present Embrace in Harwich—an initiative that engages with the local community while inaugurating the first line of digital art connectivity between London, Harwich, and beyond, extending to Europe and the wider world. We are delighted to collaborate with Embrace’s artist, the internationally renowned experience designer Skye Von, on this meaningful introductory project, which highlights the importance of immersive connection in today’s world—where we are all globally linked, yet increasingly atomised and falling apart.
